*addiction* is given the remix treatment by none-other than detroit dub master marc mk kinchen. mk retains the deep, gritty and brooding elements of the original, adding his own trademark organ riffs. on the flip side *just us* deliver a more uplifting affair, with a precision bassline and chopped and cut vocal samples adding a touch of soul to give the record and overtly classic house feel.

with *canyons* rivulet records releases another debut from a young artist. niklas krafts aka talski musical roots are basically jazz and freejazz and he is active as a saxophonist and keyboarder in some relevant combos like klinke auf chinch, eder or the niklas kraft quartett to mention only a few. as talski he presents his very own variation of deephouse. doleful chords, cheerful drums, sophisticated sample-work but mainly the sound of his analog hammonds and junos build up the charm of his tracks. it is hard to specify his sound but after all it ranges somewhere between electronica and deephouse. the danceable part of the ep is a classic deep-house remix produced by the leipzig based duo boytalk.

the guys from audision are back with their next release in coloured vinyl! they produced chimes 1 for their live-set and it was much appreciated by the crowd. their new syntie roland jd 800 sounded crystal clear in their studio, but when they practiced for their live set in frankurt last year, all of a sudden it played a different sound
this was a magic moment which had to be recorded at once. the typcial audision device is: let the machines do the talking. and that is the also the story of chimes 2 *away* was the beatless track from their last years release up & away. so no one else but gez varley aka g-man created a dancefloor monster out of it. where can we start, when we talk about such a genius like gez varley. he was co-founder of the legendary lfo (warp records) duo. he wrote music history with his partner mark bell. under his solo project g-man, he released on labels like wir, i220, force inc or swim. *quo vadis* is still one of the most important all-time favourite techno tracks. last but not least a typical rough and deep house mix came out of christopher raus machines. the smallville member released on labels like, pampa, derive, aim, mule
and delivered a great track for this wonderful release. all in all - a must have!

in a world in which upstart diy talent is flooding the gates of electronic music, a few recent voices have been so strong as to be startling. lapalux aka 25-year-old stuart howard is certainly one such. as singular as a brilliant artist always should be, his instinctive understanding of the atmospheric power of texture grips the ear immediately on listening. nostalchic is his debut album, mission statement, and the climax of many years of studying his craft. the amalgam of words that make the title is aptly, and perhaps knowingly chosen. the album evokes nostalgia without ever sounding nostalgic, and howard may have had his tongue in his chic when he added the second half of the title. the album is his most focused document to date, adding his beloved r&b and soul into elements of house and hip hop, all with the trademark lapalux finish, infectious, lopsided swing and achingly deep texture.
